SOLAR PANELS IN PARISH COMMUNITY CENTRES

SOLAR PANELS IN PARISH COMMUNITY CENTRES / CEMETERY FACILITIES

Solar panels

Solar heating systems primarily produce hot water. Some systems can also be connected to central heating systems and contribute with underfloor heating in the summer.

Solar heating is not considered useful for parish community centres and cemetery facilities, because the consumption of hot water is generally quite limited. Also, only a few of these buildings have underfloor heating and if they do, there is typically low consumption.

Finally, setting up solar panels is not accepted on buildings near the church because of aesthetic considerations.

Permission

Setting up the solar collector will normally require permission. The diocese and municipality must be contacted.

Economy

A complete solar panel system typically costs between 35.000 and 65.000 kr. including installation. Since the solar panel system cannot contribute significantly to the heating of the buildings, but mainly produces hot water, a relatively large water consumption (around 50 m3 hot water per year) is needed to give a sound economy.
